Project Six: First Progress Review

  1. Hi Kiersten! I'm going to critique your photos!

My first and most important thought is I wish the pictures could have some sort of string connecting them together. It could be so cool if you could have your first picture be a wide shot of an area, and then have each following photo be a close up of a flower or part of that original picture. I think that would also help to tell your story better. After reading your proposal I understand what you were going for but I was a bit confused until I read it.

Another idea is to go on a walk with a friend and photograph some things next to the path that most people would look past. It could be a cool message into mindfullness.

Those ideas asside I'm not entirely sure if they are needed. You have a nice collection of pictures that show close up of plant life.

Some general notes I have are I would be mindful how small your f-stop is. In most of your pictures except for 5 and 7 I feel like there are parts out of focus that should be in focus. The focus area is so small I have to take a moment to find the area that is clear. This is not the case in pictures 5 and 7, those two have an organic fade into and out of sharp parts. I really like your second picture, I think you could play with your POV with the shaddow to give it more interest.

I really like your concept for this project and I cannot wait to see the final result! Good luck!
